I have a confession to make, I am a climate change skeptic.

That being said I expose myself to the more hideous label of “Climate Change Denier”.

In this beginning statement you should believe that the root of science is skepticism, it is the driver of all theoretical proposals leading to research, and hopefully taking research forward to the truth.

I would like to start this postulation by posing a few truths:

First – Canada is by climate average the coldest country of the 195 countries recognized by the United Nations. So, it follows that taxing carbon fuel which heats the majority of homes in this very cold country seems a little absurd.

Canada is also vast, so moving people, goods and commodities takes fuel, also now being taxed by our government, we do not have much choice as solar powered cars and trucks are still a few years away.

Let’s move on.

The focus of our current government tax is Carbon, specifically Carbon Dioxide.

Carbon (from Latin: carbo “coal”) is a chemical element with the symbol C and atomic number 6. It is nonmetallic and tetravalent making four electrons available to form covalent chemical bonds. It belongs to group 14 of the periodic table.

Also, Carbon is the giver of life: your skin and hair, blood and bone, muscle and sinews all depend on carbon. Bark, leaf, root and flower; fruit and nut; pollen and nectar; bee and butterfly; Doberman and dinosaur—all incorporate essential carbon. Every cell in your body—indeed, every part of every cell—relies on a sturdy backbone of carbon. The carbon of a mother’s milk becomes the carbon of her child’s beating heart. Carbon is the chemical essence of your lover’s eyes, hands, lips and brain. When you breathe, you exhale carbon; when you kiss, carbon atoms embrace.

Carbon (the focus of our governments “Carbon Tax”) is the most abundant element in the universe, and the building block of all life on the planet.

Now let’s move on the Carbon Dioxide the main emphasis of this tax.

Carbon Dioxide is a colorless, odorless gas that can be formed by the body and is necessary for the respiration cycle of plants and animals. Carbon dioxide is produced during respiration by all animals, fungi and microorganisms that depend on living and decaying plants for food, either directly or indirectly. It is, therefore, a major component of the carbon cycle. Additionally, carbon dioxide is used by plants during photosynthesis to make sugars which may either be consumed again in respiration or used as the raw material to produce polysaccharides such as starch and cellulose, proteins and the wide variety of other organic compounds required for plant growth and development. When inhaled at concentrations much higher than usual atmospheric levels, it can produce a sour taste in the mouth and a stinging sensation in the nose and throat. These effects result from the gas dissolving in the mucous membranes and saliva, forming a weak solution of carbonic acid. Carbon dioxide is used by the food industry, the oil industry, and the chemical industry. Carbon dioxide is used to produce carbonated soft drinks and soda water. Traditionally, the carbonation in beer and sparkling wine comes about through natural fermentation, but some manufacturers carbonate these drinks artificially. We will show this compound as CO2

Currently CO2 is a minor component of the atmosphere sitting at approximately 400 PPM (parts per million).

It has been postulated that this has risen in the last several hundred years from 200 PPM.

This is important as life needs CO2; plants depend on it for their very existence.

Let’s look at the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere

At 180 PPM plants struggle for their very existence.

At 600 PPM plants flourish, crops produce 30% more food, trees flourish in areas not common to their species, plants are generally less dependent on water (by 30%).

In fact, greenhouse operators use CO2 generators in their business using values of up to 1200 PPM to grow a large amount of the food we consume in northern climates.

Also, there is no proven correlation between CO2 at higher values and Global Warming.

And now onto the “Save the Planet” bunch.

This group is largely made up of left-wing protesters who bully anyone who shows even a small amount of skepticism by branding them “Deniers” which puts us deniers in the same league as those who refute the Holocaust of WW2.

Climate Change has become a cult with these people which I assume has replaced religion in their society (Everyone needs to believe in something).

The purpose of this cult is not to save the planet, rather to move wealth from developed nations to other parts of the globe and kill Capitalism.

Remember what Lenin said “a lie told often enough becomes the truth”

They have their own Deity – St Greta of Sweden, their own personal Joan of Arc, (clever move as no one should ever criticize a child).

This whole movement is filled with pseudo-science, fakirs posing as scientists, and false statistics skewed to prove their position (Mark Twain once said” there are lies, damned lies, and then there are statistics”)

Case in point; Our Environment Canada website in November 2018 stated that Canada produced 550 million megatons of CO2, while our Carbon uptake from all plant life in Canada was 750 million megatons. Then suddenly in April of 2019 (coinciding with Mr. Sunny Ways official launch of the Federal Carbon Tax) the website stated that production of CO2 suddenly surged to 700 million megatons, while our uptake plunged to 500 million megatons ( Environment Canada used the term “managed forests”, rather than all forests and other areas like tundra, and grasslands). You cannot make this stuff up.

Also, all citations referring to research papers which previously existed on this website were mysteriously removed to perhaps support this statement. (‘Lies, Damned lies etc………).

We cannot win.

This is not a “price on pollution” but another tax grab.

The Destruction of The West

Mr. Sunny Ways dad hated the west, as the wealth of the west was moving power from Central Canada to Alberta.

He was determined to crush this movement even though this wealth became the economic engine of the country, he said “Screw the West, Win the Rest”, and his son is a willing disciple.

Why else does Sunny Ways enact a ban on tankers picking up western crude while tankers from all over the world deliver crude to ports on all coasts.

Why does he impose impossible environmental regulations on our oil industry while exempting foreign oil from his carbon tax?

His gang have coined the phrase “Dirty Oil” (much used in Quebec) even though our oil industry is the cleanest in the world.

Again, you can’t make this stuff up.

Even if we shut in all of Western Canada’s crude oil, it would not stop one single barrel of crude being used in our country.

Right now, investment capital is fleeing our oil patch. (Teck, Warren Buffet)

The Russians and the Saudis are beginning a full court press to wipe out our oil industry by reducing prices to almost nothing.

What Should Be Done?

Declare a moratorium on imported crude and build infrastructure to move Canadian product to Canadian refineries.

Get rid of silly legislation stopping or inhibiting new Canadian petroleum projects.

Enable our surplus petroleum products to be exported to markets. (end the phony protests by professional protesters who do not have any connection whatsoever to the lands where infrastructure is proposed).

Stop pandering to the Paris Accord crowd, not only is this a road to economic disaster but even if we were the world leader in meeting these goals it would not mean the least amount of difference to Global CO2.

Elect a government and a leader who would reconcile the west with central Canada, instead of dividing the country.
